This tongue twisting term, Microsclerotherapy, is a technique used for the removal of thread veins (also known as spider veins). It involves injecting a sclerosing drug using a very fine needle, and this drug works by irritating the lining of the veins and this makes the walls stick together, thus stopping the blood flowing through them, and this in turn causes the thread veins to disappear as they absorbed by the body over the space of a few weeks.
There may be some bruising and this could last a few weeks also but once this disappears you will be very satisfied with the result.
If you are suffering from thread veins it is very important you do have them treated as they can lead to tiredness, aching and throbbing, as well as being quite painful. Thread veins can be a hereditary condition, and also the onset of periods or pregnancy can be the cause of them.
